Connecticut Teacher of the Year Council

The Connecticut Teacher of the Year Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of Connecticut Teachers of the Year, education stakeholders, and representatives from sponsor organizations.  The Commissioner of Education and the State Department of Education charge the Council with many of the responsibilities involved in conducting and expanding the Connecticut Teacher of the Year Program.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR COUNCIL

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The Development Committee of the Connecticut Teacher of the Year Council works to establish ties with potential sponsors whose support is vital to the continuation of the Teacher of the Year Program.

SPONSORSHIP LEVELS

SELECTION COMMITTEE
The Selection Committee works to provide information related to each aspect of the selection process.  The committee is responsible for updating materials annually and for coordinating all aspects of the selection process in conjunction with the Connecticut State Department of Education.

CEREMONY COMMITTEE

The Ceremony Committee is charged with all aspects of the celebration at which the Connecticut Teacher of the Year and district Teachers of the Year are recognized in a large public forum. Responsibilities of the committee include: program planning, invitations, seating plans, coordination of the venue and ceremony management.  Engraved plaques and Teacher of the Year pins are presented to each honoree along with commemorative photographs captured as each teacher proudly strides across the stage to be congratulated by the Chairman of the State Board of Education and the Commissioner of Education.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

This committee works to support the current Teacher of the Year in the many events to which the honored teacher will be invited.  Funding for most of the CT Teacher of the Year activities is provided by the CT Teacher of the Year Council thanks to the generosity of its sponsors.
